Gözde Gözleme was one of our favorite places to eat while in Ölüdeniz. This amazing eatery was directly across the street from the hostel we stayed in (the one and only @oludenizhostel), so it was super convenient for us, but also EXTREMELY delicious. We ate here twice during our two day stay in this area, and ordered the gözleme everytime. Gözleme, a traditionalTurkish style pancake, comes in a variety of different flavors, both sweet and savory, and is a must-try if you ever find yourself in Turkey. We've tried this dish at several different places so far, but Gözde Gözleme does it best. We will definitely come back here everytime we visit Ölüdeniz in the future. The beach of Butterfly Valley is one of the most gorgeous beaches we have ever laid our eyes on. This beach can only be accessed by boat, making it feel very secluded as it sits between two massive picturesque cliffs. You can hike one kilometer into the valley to a stellar waterfall and for amazing views of the cliffs. Usually this area is very populated, but because of the lack of tourism due to coronavirus, there wasn't many others in the valley, adding to the serenity of the whole experience. Unfortunately, the season in which the butterflies migrate through this area has recently ended, but in the summertime, it is said that over 100 different species of butterflies populate this area! We spent today at Kumburnu Plaji, the beach right between the Blue Lagoon and Öludeniz Beach in Fethiye, Turkey. Holy shit. How does October look like this here?! We're so used to snow around this time of year back in Colorado, so it's a magnificent change of pace to spend "autumn" swimming around in warm turquoise water looking around at the surrounding mountains and the dozens of paragliders in the air. We had quite the adventure today! The Lycian Rock Tombs sit high on a mountain overlooking Fethiye, and we decided to grab some beers and climb up there to watch the sunset. There are two tombs up there–one at the top of a staircase, and another you have to climb some rocks to get to. We found out the hard way that you actually aren't allowed to climb to the second one (to be fair, there was no "keep out” sign, but we got yelled at once we reached it 😬). The view from these tombs is incredible, and the historical energy is absolutely intense. You can go inside the tombs where the bodies used to lay and feel their energy all around you. These tombs date back to 350 BC–over 2,500 years ago! It was a magical place to share some beers and watch the sun go down over Fethiye. The first two months of our marriage have been an absolute dream. We are so lucky to have found each other. Many people do not know this, but the inside of our wedding rings are engraved with the word "lucky". A little over six years ago, we met at a grocery store called Lucky's Market in Boulder, Colorado. I was a cashier and Julian came through my line to purchase something. We hit it off as friends, then eventually he got a job at the market since it was near his house. Soon after, we began dating. During our first encounter, we had no idea how our lives would change for the better after finding each other. We were very lucky to have a seemingly insignificant encounter blossom into our beautiful partnership. We had the most magical stay at Hostel Chillsteps in Fethiye! This is hands down one of the coolest hostels we have EVER stayed at. The people are wonderful, and we made so many cool friends here. The first night we stayed here, some people from the hostel got together for pizza and a backyard bonfire, and it was such a wonderful first night getting a chance to meet other travellers. Our favorite part about staying in hostels is all the spectacular people we have the opportunity to meet. The next few days were full of adventure with new friends, including beach days, bike rides (the hostel has free bikes to use 🚲), yoga, and chilling in hammocks in the massive backyard garden area. We can't wait to come back here again someday! If you are ever in Fethiye, don't hesitate to check out @hostelchillsteps!!
